The Story

Written from a place of anger, this song is a critique of the people who hold the power to create change, but do not realize this, and instead, it is wasted. The lines “Didn’t know what right could be tucked behind the chance of being politicized” was a direct reference to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s response at a press conference about his use of the word genocide, to which he responded that he didn’t want to politicize the word. The feeling of losing hope is actually not natural to me, but rather, has been taught to me because of people’s inactions; it’s more about being afraid of losing hope, and banding with others who may feel the same.
